Call Goes Out To Find 50 Golden Jumpers For KEMP Hospice

24th December 2018

KEMP Hospice are giving Worcestershire daredevils a golden opportunity to take flight and fundraise for the local charity as they celebrate their 50th anniversary.

The Wyre Forest based charity are looking for fifty brave people to take part in a charity parachute jump challenge, with three dates set aside for people to choose from. Over the last three years over 50 members of the public have braved the 13,000ft tandem parachute jump in aid of KEMP, raising around £30,000. This year though KEMP are setting their sights even higher and hope that fifty people will choose to sign up for one of their KEMP BIG 50 JUMP events across the year and, possibly help smash the amount raised.

The first KEMP BIG 50 JUMP will take place on Saturday 13th April at Hinton Skydiving Centre on the Oxfordshire/Northants border with 20 places available. The second date has been confirmed as Sunday 9th June with a third date earmarked for Sunday 22nd September.

KEMP Hospice Events and Challenges co-ordinator Shelley Stanley said this was the perfect year to take on a KEMP challenge: “KEMP was established back in 1969 by people who wanted to make a difference and help people who are facing tough times through ill health and bereavement. They always said that the sky was the only limit when it came to helping people…now the sky is no longer a limit, in fact it’s an incentive. Jumping out of a plane is no mean feat, it’s something that not many people have done but everyone I’ve spoken to that has carried out a parachute jump challenge in aid of KEMP they’ve all said that it was the most exhilarating experience ever.”

Shelley added that Challenges and Events in aid of KEMP Hospice all go toward helping the charity provide specialist care and support to people who a dealing with life-limiting illnesses or bereavement across the Wyre Forest district: “In January we’re asking people if we can collect and recycle their real Christmas trees, just one way that we’re raising funds while at the other end of the spectrum we’re asking people to leap out of planes. The money our jumpers have raised so far over the years is incredible, every penny and every pound makes a real difference to the care and support that KEMP can offer to people in the Wyre Forest district and I would love it if 50 people came forward to take up this year’s parachute jump challenge. How fantastic would it be if the money they raised this year, our 50th year, managed to add to the total raised through our jumps and break the £50,000 mark. Fifty grand in our fiftieth year? It’s a golden opportunity to do something amazing, not only for yourself but for the families and people we support here at KEMP.”
