Head of Fundraising
WHAT DO YOU DO AT KEMP?
My role at KEMP is to manage the fundraising team and oversee income generation from our many fundraising activities. I work with the fundraising team to set and implement the strategy and contribute to KEMP’s Senior Management Team.
WHY DID YOU START WORKING / VOLUNTEERING AT KEMP?
I started working for KEMP in July 2015 as I was looking for a new challenge in my career. I already knew about the great work that KEMP does in the Wyre Forest so as soon as I saw the role advertised I applied. Working for a charity is very important to me; it is something that I have always done.
WHY DO YOU THINK KEMP IS SPECIAL?
During my first week at the hospice someone said to me that if you could see inside the staff and volunteers here they are like sticks of seaside rock with KEMP running through them. I soon understood exactly what they meant. Everyone approaches their role with professionalism and focus, enabling or delivering care and support to the local community which is second to none.
WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF WORKING AT KEMP?
Being a small part of the wonderful role KEMP plays in the Wyre Forest makes me very proud. As a fundraiser I am conscious that I need to bring in sufficient income to ensure that the services can continue to meet the needs to the local community. There are certainly many stressful times but overall the sense of achievement and pride in being able to help others, albeit from afar, is immense.
WHAT DIFFERENCE DO YOU THINK KEMP MAKES TO THE COMMUNITY OF THE WYRE FOREST?
I have the opportunity to talk to a lot of people about the work that we do here. I see the reaction on their faces and hear their words of thanks for the care and support that they have received. KEMP touches so many lives, in so many ways and makes a positive difference to all.
