Community Fundraiser

Biography

WHAT DO YOU DO AT KEMP?

I am KEMP’s Community Fundraiser!  This means I am responsible for driving community fundraising events across local groups, schools and businesses, as well as supporting the amazing people in our area who fundraise on behalf of KEMP.  I also look after our beautiful butterflies, our collection boxes; and being someone who enjoys the benefits of retail therapy, I love looking after our onsite gift shop!

WHY DID YOU START WORKING AT KEMP?

I started working at KEMP because I wanted to make a difference to people’s lives and work alongside a vibrant, professional team! I love the buzz of fundraising, and having experience within the charity sector and being a ‘local lass’, I wanted to use my skills to help those most in need in my own area.

WHY DO YOU THINK KEMP IS SPECIAL?

I think KEMP is special because it’s just so positive.  There is such a wonderful atmosphere at KEMP.  I have never received such a warm welcome as when I joined – you can see how passionate everyone is across the organisation about what they do.  There is such a ‘can do’ and collaborative attitude across all departments, and I love that.

WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF WORKING AT KEMP?

Working alongside a great team, lots of fun and the huge satisfaction of knowing I am making a big difference.

WHAT DIFFERENCE DO YOU THINK KEMP MAKES TO THE COMMUNITY OF THE WYRE FOREST?

I have witnessed first-hand that it makes an enormous difference.  During spending some time at the day hospice, I chatted with many patients, and was overwhelmed by stories of how time with us enriches their lives.  One lady told me that she had put off coming for a while because she thought it may be a very sad place.  However, when she finally came for the first time, she couldn’t believe how optimistic and wonderful it was… and three years later, she is still enjoying her time at KEMP - meeting friends, enjoying arts and crafts, as well as the delicious lunches!

I also believe that getting involved in our fundraising events also makes a big difference to those that do.  KEMP supports some very vulnerable people, and of course this can be very sad at times, however fundraising for us is immense fun and really encompasses community spirit.  Just look at the photos!

If you would like organise a fun event whilst fundraising on behalf of KEMP, please get in touch – I am always happy to offer lots of ideas and support!
