WHAT DO YOU DO AT KEMP?

I work in the fundraising team to raise vital funds to ensure KEMP can provide services to everyone who needs us.  I specifically look after anyone who is brave enough to do a personal challenge, such as a parachute jump, marathon, sponsored walk or head shave ect.

I also organise and run KEMP’s large mass participation events such as our Midnight Walk, Santa Fun Run, Halloween Walk which are fantastic ways for people to get involved with KEMP for the first time. One of my favourite projects is looking after our Christmas memory campaign called Light up a Life as it is an opportunity for people to remember loved ones at a very difficult time,  As a fundraising team we work hard to ensure our supporters are

WHY DID YOU START WORKING/VOLUNTEERING AT KEMP?

I joined KEMP in January 2015 after working for many years as a Wedding Co-ordinator at a local hotel. When I first came to KEMP I didn’t really know much about what we did as an organisation, but was completely overwhelmed with the range of services offered and the different ways in which we are able to support families in the Wyre Forest with a life-limiting illness and bereavement.  Three years in I still love everything about working at KEMP!

WHY DO YOU THINK KEMP IS SPECIAL?

It’s special for the incredible care and services we provide to all those who need us.  Our dedicated volunteers make KEMP special as without them giving up their time and we would not be able to provide this support. Our supporters make KEMP special as they raise much needed funds and awareness, time and time again so we can afford to provide this care.  Everyone involved is part of the KEMP Family and this in itself is a very special thing!

WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF WORKING AT KEMP?

I feel very lucky to be able to make a difference to the lives of others and with every pound we raise we know KEMP can help more families and provide our services to more local people. Raising funds is challenging but it can also be very rewarding, so when we receive fantastic support from our supporters or a local business it is a great sense of achievement.

WHAT DIFFERENCE DO YOU THINK KEMP MAKES TO THE COMMUNITY OF THE WYRE FOREST?

Every hospice does extraordinary work up and down the country, but KEMP is your local hospice –The Wyre Forest Hospice. Here for anyone that needs us. We touch the lives of so many people locally and having seen what this means to the families we support I know that KEMP is loved in the community.
