Woofs & Wellies, 29th April 2018

It’s Back for 2018!

First held in 2014, we are excited to re-launch our popular pooch dog walking event for Spring 2018!

Our family friendly 3 mile walk takes place around the beautiful Wyre Forest on Sunday 29th April and we want to fill the forest with our favourite fluffy friends.

Register here!!

It costs £5.00 per dog (every pooch gets a doggie bag too) and all adults and children go free! All we ask is for each family to try and raise a minimum of £20 in sponsorship which will go directly to continuing the incredible work done by KEMP Hospice right here in the Wyre Forest community.

The Wyre Forest is the perfect venue for a family friendly dog walk with superb facilities including a Cafe, Children’s play areas, toilets, sufficient parking (payable) and a doggie wash (also payable)!

Our Woofs & Wellies walkies gets underway at 11:00am and we’ll be celebrating our love for our four-legged friends and KEMP Hospice too!

We asked Gavin Collyer, Joint Venture Partner & Veterinary Surgeon at Companion Care Veterinary Surgery inside Pets at Home in Kidderminster why our four-legged friends are so important, “Dogs are invaluable companions and the bond that most of us have with our dogs is incredibly strong. They offer unconditional love and support to us no matter what we may be going through. They can lift our spirits when we are feeling down, they provide companionship and can be a great comfort especially to those who need unconditional interaction with another living being. Dogs decrease levels of human loneliness and they give us a sense of purpose as we have to care for them. This relationship is particularly important to those people who live alone, don’t socialise much, have seen family members grow up and move out or people who have recently experienced a major change in their life, such as the loss of a close human companion. Some dogs are also used as service, therapy or assistance animals to help with a number of conditions such as mental health or with certain physical disabilities.”

Gavin told us why he was supporting our KEMP Hospice Woofs & Wellies event: “Taking your dog for a walk is not only beneficial for them but also for the whole family. Walking your dog is so much more than just a way of exercising them. It stops them from getting bored, it’s a behaviour training opportunity, and it teaches your dog how to behave in other canine company. On top of all this, it gets both of you out and about while helping to grow the bond you have with your dog! Dogs make a massive difference to us and our world is a better place with them in it.”
