Volunteer Opportunities

KEMP Hospice has over 240 volunteers, working in a variety of different roles. All our volunteers are supported well and are given all neccessary training to their role. They work within a flexible yet structured working environment where travel expenses are reimbursed.

Roles available:

Family Support Workers

Brief Description- To help Kemp Hospice provide family support to our local community. Providing one to one or group support to families and patients who are dealing with grief.

Skills Required- To have many general life skills and experience or qualifications dealing with adults/children going through a grieving process. Training is provided. The role can be flexible, evening, weekends or week days.

Admin Support        

Brief Description- To help Kemp Hospice provide family support to our local community. Assist Family Support Coordinator with general admin duties within the team, computer database entries, photocopying, shredding.

Skills Required- To have good admin skills, be computer literate. Must be able to work on own or in groups. Being organised and confidential and reliable. We need someone a few hours each week within office times,  Monday-Friday.

Complementary Therapists

Brief Description- To help Kemp Hospice provide therapies to our patients and families within office hours.  Full support and materials provided.

Skills Required- To have a qualification in reflexology, aromatherapy, Indian head massage and to be covered by own insurance. Current role time is a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday morning once every week or once every other.

Ebay volunteer

Brief Description- To help Kemp Hospice with the running of our new Ebay shop.

Skills Required- Experience of Ebay sales preferred, help with packaging and listing, providing feedback and answering questions. Role is flexible during office hours, Monday-Friday.

Day Care Volunteer

Brief Description- To assist the nurses and health care support workers; working within our day care; with our patients. Volunteers needed for Monday and Wednesdays, 9.45am until 3.15pm. 

Skills Required- Enjoy talking and listening to people, be friendly, approachable, possess a sense of humour, be confidential, be patient and it would be a bonus if you have an interest in crafts or in manicures.

Shop Volunteer

Brief Description- Does fashion interest you? Have you ever been into our Kemp Hospice shops and thought there was something missing or an area you could improve? If your answer is yes; we have the perfect role for you. We are looking for more shop volunteers to join our teams in all our Kemp shops in Bewdley, Stourport, Kidderminster town centre and Spennells estate. Roles include, sale of goods, preparing, hanging, steaming, sizing and tagging stock for sale, there will be the occasional house duties i.e. dusting. We are keen to establish a personal shopping experience for our customers.

Skills Required- Excellent customer service skills, enthusiastic, communication skills, team player. Interest in fashion.

 Warehouse Assistant/Hub Volunteer

Brief Description-  Have you got an eye for detail? Do you enjoy working with fashion? We are looking for a volunteer to assist the warehouse manager with lots of exciting roles; we need help sorting all our donated goods. Kemp is lucky in that we get excellent quality donations from clothes, books, bric-a-brac etc. We need volunteer to help prepare stock ready to be taken to our shops ready for sale. We hold annual fashion shows and special project events; we always need help with the preparation of these and organisation. There is also an opportunity for admin/ebay work.

Skills Required- Interest in fashion, Sense of humour, team player. While there is not heavy lifting work, we do advise that this role is not suitable for those whose health is less robust than average.

Kemp Hospice Ambassador

Brief Description-  Would you like to make a difference in your local community? Kemp Hospice is currently recruiting for a volunteer to help our Community Fundraiser by talking to a variety of audiences creating awareness of Kemp Hospice services that are provided free of charge to our local community.

 Skills Required- Good public speaker, presentation skills, confidence in engaging different groups, willingness to attend training/support meetings.

Volunteer Drivers

Brief Description-  We are looking for volunteers who are available to drive occasionally and use their own car, under own insurance and help with stock collecting, collecting box delivering and also patient driving. The role times can be flexible to suit you.

Skills Required- Clean driving license, age 25+, patience, sense of humour and willing to use own car and let your insurance company know you are driving on behalf of a charity. Mileage is paid at 40 pence per mile.
