KEMP for Carers

KEMP for Carers is a new service, specifically for the carers of patients with life limiting conditions, living within the Wyre Forest.

What is it?

We can offer 4 hours per week of support for the carers of people with a life limiting condition and who is deemed to be within their last 12 months, who are not receiving any NHS funded care services. This care will initially be offered for up to 6 weeks and then we'll review.

We call this respite support, which means that carers can have some time to themselves: to rest, to attend appointments, go shopping, meet a friend for coffee or just relax, knowing their loved one is in safe hands.

We can also consider one off requests for overnight support, up to 4 nights, to support a carer who might be feeling overwhelmed or exhausted.

What Will KEMP Carers Provide?

Our KEMP for Carers team will provide some personal care such as assisting people to the bathroom; monitoring conditions and communicating with other professionals involved in the person's care. Most importantly, our carers will provide reassurance to carers with our high quality friendly, compassionate communication and company.

Who can refer?

This is a brand new service for KEMP and in the short term we are accepting referrals only from healthcare professionals such as GPs, District and Community Nurses. We hope to be opening referrals out to anyone in the near future.

If you think that you or someone you know would benefit from our KEMP for Carers service, please talk to your Community Nurse or GP.

What makes this model so special?

Quality: Our team are trained, as a minimum, to NVQ level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care Healthcare Assistant (HCA).

Continuity: We will, where possible, allocate a named member of our team to a patient and their carer.

Confidence: Our professional, compassionate staff have an excellent reputation locally for putting patients and carers at ease.
