Sponsors sought for KEMP Hospice festive events

30th July 2018

While the Wyre Forest continues to bask in a summer heatwave, Kidderminster charity KEMP Hospice are swapping hot-hot-hot for ho-ho-ho as their plans for Christmas start to heat up.

The districts only day hospice and bereavement support centre are putting their festive fundraising into gear by calling on local businesses to help them out with sponsorship. This December KEMP plan on hosting their most ambitious Santa Fun Run event to date as well as a very special remembrance campaign called Light up a Life.

Both events are available for local businesses to sponsor and Head of Fundraising at KEMP Hospice, Cathy Sloan highlighted the importance of finding companies that will partner with KEMP Hospice: “The events that we put on throughout the year help us to raise vital funds for KEMP Hospice. Around 20% of our funding comes from the NHS so 80p (eighty pence) pence of every pound needed to provide our vital services comes from our supporters and fundraisers. The generosity of our supporters can never been taken for granted. They are the lifeblood that ensures we can provide care and support to people dealing with life-limiting illnesses or bereavement here in the Wyre Forest District. Event sponsors allow us to raise more money, to help more families in the local area, and it helps to raise more awareness of the work we do and our sponsor partners”

Cathy went on to tell us some of the benefits that corporate partners can expect by sponsoring an event such as this Decembers ‘Santa Fun Run’: “Their generosity will be recognised in a number of ways such as by displaying their logo on all the marketing materials, online on KEMP’s website and across social media, in our mass-mailing to individuals, businesses, schools and community groups and in all of our press communications. Advertising banners displaying their logo will be placed in prominent positions around the Wyre Forest in the run up to events and at the events themselves. This year our ‘Light up a Life’ campaign, which encourages people to remember their lost loved ones at Christmas, will be mailed out to over a quarter of all homes in the district, that’s 25,000 homes that could receive a letter featuring a local sponsor. There are many other marketing opportunities available for you as sponsor which I would be more than happy to discuss.”

KEMP Hospice’s ‘Santa Fun Run’ 10k, 5k and 1k races saw a record breaking attendance last December with over 500 people taking part. This year the event is hoped to grow even bigger as the local charity include a Santa Cycle Ride. The event takes place on the first Sunday in December, with the following week seeing the annual ‘Light up a Life’ celebration service taking place at Kidderminster Town Hall.
