KEMP's grand raffle reminder

KEMP Hospice are reminding homes across the district to return their raffle ticket stubs in case they miss out on a grand cash prize.

The Wyre Forest’s only day hospice and bereavement service sent out books of fundraising raffle tickets to over a quarter of all homes in the area last month, with the aim of raising vital funding for the local charity. The KEMP Summer Raffle has a donated top prize of £1,000 cash and the prize draw will take place in just a few weeks with the deadline for returning completed ticket stubs is Friday 14th September.

Head of Fundraising at KEMP, Cathy Sloan explained why it was so important for people to buy tickets and return the stubs: “It costs around £1.5 million pounds to operate KEMP annually and we are so proud to serve the Wyre Forest community in providing care and support to people dealing with life-limiting illnesses and bereavement. This year alone we aim to look after more than a thousand people and our Summer Raffle is a way of us to sell tickets, at £1 each and then turn those pounds into specialist care and support for families who face the most difficult of times. We are always amazed at how many people though forget to return their completed raffle ticket stubs. The money raised from our raffle goes toward helping so many people, and it’s great to also be able to offer something back to our supporters…but only if they complete and return their ticket stubs. Winning one thousand pounds this side of Christmas would be fantastic but, to coin a phrase, you’ve got to be in it to win it.”

Cathy also said that this year’s raffle was more important than previous fundraising efforts: “We’ve been able to reach more homes this year, thanks to our raffle sponsors as they not only provided the prize fund but also the letter printing and delivery costs. It means that every ticket sold and the money returned to KEMP goes directly to helping people with conditions such as Parkinson’s and Motor Neurone Disease, cancer, it allows us to provide support to families who are dealing with bereavement and also goes to fund our KEMP for Carers programme. KEMP for Carers is a home-based respite care service for people with life-limiting illnesses and it sees KEMP go into local homes to offer full-time home carers the chance to take a much needed break. It’s so important to be able to offer local care, support and peace of mind to patients and their families and this year’s raffle will really help KEMP for Carers and KEMP Hospice as a whole.”
