Early Christmas Present for Patients as Kidderminster Harriers visit KEMP

9th December 2024

On Monday 2nd December the Kidderminster Harriers team took time out of their busy training schedule to visit KEMP Hospice patients.

KEMP Hospice patients enjoyed some festive fun as the Kidderminster Harriers team, along with manager Phil Brown paid a visit to the Hospice.

On Monday 2nd December 2024, the team of players took time out of their busy training schedule and enjoyed a visit with patients including lifelong Harriers fans Jeff and Mel.

Emma Yarsley, Development Clinical Nurse specialist at KEMP Hospice said, “It was great to have the team here at the Hospice once again. Some of the players also visited in 2022 and took some time out to chat with Jeff, so it was great that they could have a good catch up!”

The Kidderminster Harriers team visit took place during the Hospice’s weekly Men’s Group. Emma continued, “The KEMP Hospice Men’s Group was started just over a year ago as we were aware how challenging men can find it to talk. We thought it was a great way to open channels of communication which becomes a good stress relief for the men. They often come in with concerns, but leave without them after talking to the other men and staff”

The Men’s Group has been well received by those who attend each week. Take a look at some of the recent feedback we’ve received:

  • “I can talk about things that I have never been able to discuss with my family.”
  • “After caring for my wife, it has taught me how to converse with people again as she was unable to talk to me. It has really changed life for the better.”
  • “The staff are brilliant and listen and look after you. They really care about us.”

All of us at KEMP would like to say a huge thank you to the whole Kidderminster Harriers team for visiting, we’ll be cheering them on a wishing them success for the rest of the season!!
