KEMP Hospice are celebrating fundraising success thanks to the ongoing support of Tesco Kidderminster Superstore. Tesco have been running a book sale since 2016 and thanks to kind donations from shoppers, they have this year reached a milestone of £10,000 in total donations for KEMP Hospice.

Former Tesco employee Heather Rutter, set up the book sale with permission from the management team at Tesco back in 2016. Heather has been a keen supporter of KEMP Hospice over many years, taking part in several fundraising challenges and events. Since retiring from her role at Tesco, Heather has remained in contact with the team, and continues to support the book sale. Heather said, “Tesco customers have been so supportive of the book sale and it’s great to see the success has continued over the years”. Tesco have continued to actively promote the book sale, and thanks to the hard work from the Scan as you Shop Team and kind book donations from customers, they have achieved an outstanding fundraising total for the local hospice charity.
“It’s important to us that we can support our local community. We’re really pleased the book sale continues to be popular, and we’re grateful to our customers for their help in supporting our local Hospice charity.”
The funds raised by Tesco have had, and will continue to have, a direct impact on the services provided at KEMP Hospice. Charlie Homer, Head of Fundraising and Communications at KEMP Hospice said, “It’s so wonderful to have the support of a local business such as Tesco. All our services are provided free of charge to patients, so every penny raised goes directly towards the provision of their care and support”.
KEMP Hospice provides valuable care and support to people across the Wyre Forest affected by a life-limiting illness and bereavement. Charlie continued “As a charity, we need to raise £1.5m every year to continue to provide our support and services to residents of the Wyre Forest. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated to KEMP via the book sale, and to Heather and the team at Tesco Kidderminster who have kept it running over the years, raising such a wonderful amount”
