3rd July 2025

The Boutique by KEMP Hospice grand opening ceremony took place on Thursday 3rd July. The store offers a new experience for KEMP shoppers, find out more!

The sun shone on Hagley this morning as the newest addition to the high street officially opened its doors. The grand opening of The Boutique by KEMP Hospice took place on Thursday 3rd July at 10am, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a warm welcome from staff, volunteers, and local supporters of the Wyre Forest based charity in attendance.

Gary Barnes, Head of Retail at KEMP Hospice said “We’re absolutely thrilled to open our new shop in Hagley. The local response has been fantastic, and we’re so grateful to the community for their warm welcome. Every purchase, donation and hour volunteered helps us raise essential funds to support our hospice services, so this shop really will make a lasting difference. The Boutique by KEMP Hospice is more than just a place to shop. Our aim is to establish the store as a vibrant community hub where people can shop sustainably, donate quality items, and get involved as volunteers.”

Located in the heart of Hagley, the new shop offers a carefully selected collection of women’s clothing, formal wear, premium products and specialist items which have all been pre-loved and kindly donated to help raise vital funds for KEMP Hospice.

Kate Werrett who travelled to the shop from Kidderminster was the first customer to officially enter the new shop and take a look around.

Steve Colella, Bromsgrove District Councillor – Hagley West, also joined the celebration to help welcome the new store to Hagley High Street.

KEMP Hospice has been providing free-of-charge care and support to people for over 55 years. Services include Day Hospice clinical care, exercise & wellbeing, complementary and occupational therapy and creative arts activities for patients and their families living with a life-limiting illness. KEMP also offers counselling and emotional support to adults, young people and children living with bereavement.

Gary continued “We never charge for the care and support services provided at KEMP Hospice. But each year we need to raise around £1.6million to ensure we can continue to be there for people. Our retail shops – including this new store – play a vital role in helping us to raise those funds. This wouldn’t be possible without the wonderful customers who come through our doors each day, and the generosity of those who donate their pre-loved items.”

As the shop opens its doors, we’re also keen to hear from people who could volunteer to help establish the store in the local community. Kevin Powell, People & Volunteer Coordinator at KEMP Hospice said “Volunteering is a fantastic way to not only support KEMP Hospice in raising vital funds, but a chance to meet new people, learn new skills or utilise your previous experience. Volunteers are at the very heart of everything we do at KEMP, particularly our retail sites and quite simply we couldn’t keep our shop doors open without them.”

If you’re interested in volunteering at The Boutique by KEMP Hospice, would like any further information, or would simply like to look around and pick up a bargain, the shop is now open from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 4.30pm and can be found at 100 Worcester Road, Hagley, DY9 0NJ.
