Department: Fundraising & Communications Team

Reports to: Head of Fundraising & Communications

Location: Hospice-based; attendance at events required in line with the needs of the role

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £30,900 per annum

Based in the heart of the Wyre Forest, KEMP Hospice has been providing compassionate care and support to people affected by life-limiting illness and bereavement for over 50 years. We offer end-of-life care, counselling, and emotional support – completely free of charge – to adults, their families, and carers for as long as they need it. We stand by their side in our day hospice, in their homes, or virtually, during some of life’s most challenging moments.

As a Fundraiser at KEMP you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring we maximise our income and maintain the highest standards of donor and supporter care. Your work will be instrumental in helping us continue to provide our life-changing services to the community. Whether through individual giving, corporate partnerships, or community events, your efforts will raise vital funds and ensure KEMP’s presence is felt throughout the Wyre Forest and beyond.

To build KEMP’s community and event income streams in line with our fundraising strategy. Developing, implementing, and delivering on a wide range of fundraising activities and events including exceptional donor stewardship and fundraising initiatives whilst providing guidance and support to build solid and long-lasting relationships with community organisations, individual donors, and event participants.

Fundraising and Engagement

  • Plan and implement community fundraising activities, leveraging local research and networking with individual supporters, schools, organisations and volunteers.
  • Lead income generation from individual fundraisers and management of community campaigns, ensuring high-standard supporter journeys
  • Manage specific projects, initiatives, third-party events, and KEMP events.
  • Collaborate with the Fundraising and Communications team on individual giving campaigns
  • Promote fundraising campaigns, provide excellent supporter service, and encourage engagement across multiple income streams.
  • Research, design, and implement new revenue generation opportunities.
  • Stay updated on sector trends, providing insights to the fundraising team and Head of Fundraising & Communications.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends when required, and represent KEMP externally.
  • Contribute to media opportunities that raise KEMP’s profile locally and regionally.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with GDPR, Gift Aid regulations, and all relevant fundraising legislation.

Volunteer Management

  • Work alongside and where appropriate manage fundraising volunteers, supporting volunteer engagement and community fundraising activities.

Administration and Compliance

  • Take responsibility for personal administration tasks.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using the Beacon CRM database and MS Office, and generate reports for the Head of Fundraising & Communications.
  • Ensure the effective recording and use of supporter information in line with departmental procedures.
  • Support the Head of Fundraising & Communications in setting community fundraising budgets and manage income/expenditure within growth targets.
  • Monitor progress, report on objectives, and address risks.
  • Respond to enquiries from the public, volunteers, and fundraisers via phone, mail, and in person, including requests for information and materials.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with GDPR, Gift Aid regulations, and all relevant fundraising legislation.

Essential Criteria:

  • Good levels of literacy, IT literacy (including competence with MS Office), numeracy, and general education.
  • Experience of charity fundraising, including delivering agreed income targets and working to budget.
  • Experience of project planning, management, and evaluation, including financial management.
  • Knowledge of Community Fundraising or Event Management, including planning and delivery.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Knowledge of relevant fundraising law, fundraising regulations, GDPR, and best practice.
  • Ability to build relationships and rapport quickly with staff, volunteers, and donors.
  • Ability to organise self, prioritise varied workloads, plan effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of working independently to meet fundraising targets.
  • Ability to achieve high-quality output, demonstrating patience and perseverance when faced with challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively and creatively.
  • Ability to be empathetic and sympathetic, especially when engaging patients and supporters.
  • Ability to collaborate and actively support colleagues, building good working relationships at all levels.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends when required.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of public speaking engagements and presentations.
  • Experience of working with and/or managing volunteers.
  • Experience of making a case for support and writing fundraising materials.
  • Experience of using CRM databases (Beacon preferred).
  • Knowledge of the voluntary sector.
  • Knowledge of the hospice sector.
  • Appreciation of the challenges faced by a small charity.
  • Knowledge of donation and fundraising platforms.
