KEMP Employer Accreditations

Disability Confident Employer

Disability Confident (DC) is creating a movement of change, encouraging employers to think differently about disability and take action to improve how they recruit, retain and develop disabled people. Being Disability Confident is a unique opportunity to lead the way in our community.

It was developed by employers and disabled people’s representatives to make it rigorous but easily accessible – particularly for smaller businesses.

There are 3 levels designed to support employers on their DC journey:

Disability Confident Committed employer (level 1)
Disability Confident Employer (level 2)
Disability Confident Leader (level 3)

KEMP Hospice is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer having upgraded in 2021. As a DC Employer we realise the potential of disabled people.

KEMP Hospice commits to:

  • Actively attracting and recruiting disabled people to help fill your opportunities
  • Providing a fully inclusive and accessible recruitment process
  • Offering an interview to disabled people who meet the minimum criteria for the job
  • Being flexible when assessing people so disabled job applicants have the best opportunity to demonstrate that they can do the job
  • Must proactively offer and make reasonable adjustments as required
  • Encouraging your suppliers and partner firms to be Disability Confident
  • Ensuring employees have appropriate disability equality awareness

Disabled people are a hugely diverse group of people, with many amazing skills and experience. We strive to be inclusive of everyone and tap into skills and experience wherever they’re found and support everyone to give their best.

Breathe Culture Pledge

KEMP Hospice joined the Breathe Culture Pledge to demonstrate investment in their people’s development and wellbeing.

Positive workplace culture is essential to small business productivity, as toxic cultures are estimated to cost the UK economy an eye-watering £23.6 billion per year.

In June 2021, we joined a growing community of organisations, who are showing their investment in creating a positive workplace culture for their team by joining the Breathe Culture Pledge.

The Pledge is a promise to put our people first, invest in their success, super-charge employee engagement – and ultimately drive our organisation forward. To date, more than 500 UK small businesses have signed the Pledge. Cloud-based software provider, Breathe, launched the Pledge in 2018.

Workplace culture is an essential aspect of business strategy and key to creating an inclusive, progressive environment that supports employees and recognises their achievements. This is key to productivity, people’s happiness, personal development and therefore business success.

Recent research conducted by Breathe revealed that in 2019, toxic company culture cost the UK economy more than £15.7 billion.

We believe our people are the lifeblood of the organisation and are central to our ongoing success. By joining the Breathe Culture Pledge, we are proudly acknowledging our investment and the responsibility all businesses have in terms of creating a progressive workplace where employees feel valued and appreciated.
