Our counselling and emotional support provides reassurance and a safe space for adults with or affected by a life-limiting illness, bereavement, and children and young people facing life without a loved one to explore and express their emotions
Our talking therapy helps our patients come to terms with their life-limiting diagnosis and we are here to support them at any stage. We give loved ones time out from everyday life to talk freely without judgement, express their grief and understand their emotions. And we work alongside children and families facing life without a family member.
Our caring professionals are here for everyone across the Wyre Forest area, even when the death of a loved one isn’t linked to a life-limiting illness. Our bereavement counselling helps people cope with their grief by giving them an outlet to talk openly about their feelings and time and space to process their emotions. We’re here whenever people are ready to talk.
From diagnosis to bereavement, we’re here to help people deal with their situation and cope better, with a professional by their side.
Anyone who lives within, or is registered with a GP in the Wyre Forest and who has experienced a bereavement within the past 3 years can make a referral to our bereavement service.
Adult counselling can be accessed via self-referral or referral by a GP, or other healthcare professional. Children and young adult counselling can be accessed via referral by parent/guardian as well as GP or other healthcare professional, family support worker or teacher, with parental/guardian consent.
One of our team will contact you to arrange to carry out an assessment The assessment is usually carried out by one of our Counsellors by telephone and takes around 45 minutes. If, following assessment, it is agreed that one to one work may be beneficial then you can be offered up to a maximum of 10 sessions with one of our Family Support team.
Our Family Support Team is made up of both staff and volunteers, and adhere to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework.

The Counselling Rooms at KEMP Hospice have been designed to provide you with a safe and calming environment.
When you arrive for your session, your counsellor will meet you in KEMP Hospice Reception and walk with you to your designated room.
We have a range of rooms suitable for adults, young people and children, and each room is equipped to support you during your counselling sessions.
KEMP Day Hospice sits at the heart of our care, providing support across the Wyre Forest for people affected by life limiting illness. It’s a happy hub where patients, their families and carers receive the support they need from our team of specialists.
We offer a range of support to patients and their loved ones who are dealing with a life-limiting illness. KEMP work closely with health, social and allied professionals ensuring a seamless approach to care and support.
A patient’s well-being is monitored at each visit and they are encouraged towards self-help, regaining confidence and maintaining independence.
