Kidderminster Harriers players Ashley Hemmings, Ethan Freemantle, Amari Morgan-Smith and Tom Palmer paid a special visit to KEMP Hospice last week to surprise lifelong Harriers fans Jeff and Helen.
Jeff and Helen are both patients of KEMP Day Hospice. Emma Yarsley, Day Hospice Staff Nurse said “We knew Jeff was a fan of the Harriers so we thought it would be nice to see if we could arrange something special for him. When they said some of the players would come over to the hospice after training, we never for one second thought 4 of them would turn up! It was only on the day we found out Helen was also a fan, so it was great she was also there to enjoy the moment.”
The boys spent time chatting with Jeff, talking to him about his lifelong following of the club, and how the first match he went to was 70 years ago! They also spent some time posing for photos with both Jeff and Helen and even spoke to a relative of Jeff’s on the phone as it was his birthday!
Emma continued, “It was so wonderful for them to take the time to visit, and it was particularly lovely to see Jeff’s reaction when they walked through the door! The care and support of our patients is always our highest priority, so to be able to arrange this moment for them to enjoy was an absolute privilege.”
All of us at KEMP would like to extend our sincere thanks to the players from Kidderminster Harriers for taking the time out to visit.
