Wyre Forest Cycle Club 24-Hour Relay Challenge raises £4,000 for KEMP Hospice

Taking on a 24-hour cycle challenge

On Saturday 24^th August 2024 Wyre Forest Cycling Club organised a 24-hour cycle relay at Stourport Sports Club in aid of KEMP Hospice, raising an incredible £4,000 including Gift Aid.

The event is the first of its kind in the Wyre Forest and cycling club organiser Tim Tranter, was keen to support KEMP Hospice as well as showcase the amazing traffic free cycling circuit at Stourport sports club, giving cyclists of all ages and abilities a truly memorable challenge to complete.

Olivia Ferris, KEMP Hospice Community Fundraiser said “We are so grateful to everyone who took part and donated as part of Wyre Forest Cycling Club and beyond. We never charge for our care at KEMP Hospice so it’s a fantastic amount to raise, that will make a real difference to the lives of those we care for and support. Thanks also to Stourport Sports Club who generously supported the event.”  

Cycling Further than Stourport to Beijing

The mammoth challenge saw a phenomenal number of laps completed as Olivia explains, “Collectively, everyone who took part completed 6008 laps of Stourport Cycle Circuit, travelling a combined distance of 8411km or 5226.5 miles. To put that into context, this is further than Stourport to Beijing which is 8177km or 5081 miles. The group also had a youth team which competed, covering an incredible 418 laps together, or 364 miles. We really are incredibly grateful and offer our sincere congratulations to everyone who took part. The club have worked tirelessly to make the event a success and I’m so pleased to see their hard work has paid off.”
