KEMP Hospice Launch Young People’s Award

1st February 2023

We know how competitive the job market can be, so it’s as important as ever for young people to learn employability skills

We know how competitive the job market can be, so it’s as important as ever for young people to learn employability skills. In a first of its kind for KEMP Hospice we’re very proud to launch the KEMP Young People’s Award.

Employability skills for young people

The KEMP Young People’s Award is a unique initiative that gives young people aged between 13 and 18 an opportunity to combine learning new skills to boost their CV, with the chance to make a real difference to their local community.

To achieve the KEMP Young People’s Award, anyone aged 13 to 18 is invited to hold a fundraising event for KEMP Hospice. The event can be as big or as small as they like and can be completed as an individual or as a group. Each person registered will receive a pack that details all stages which need to be completed to gain the award, and upon completion they’ll receive a certificate to use as evidence to show the employability skills they have learnt.

School and college fundraising ideas

Vicki Wootton-Champion, Community Fundraiser at KEMP who is behind the award said “We know how important it is today to have experience on your CV which can be challenging as a young person trying to find employment. The KEMP Young People’s Award has been put together as a means for Young People to show future employers the skills learnt, their hard working mentality and the initiative they’ve taken to complete the award. It also shows their generosity in holding a fundraising event to support KEMP Hospice”.

Fundraising lesson plans for teachers

Anyone completing the award will be supported along the way, and the award is also available for teachers with relevant lesson plans, materials and guides should they wish to engage their students in the activities.
