Barefoot on Snowdon: 24 Hours and Over £5,200 Raised for KEMP Hospice

23rd October 2026

Josh Mantle raised over £5,200 for KEMP Hospice by climbing Snowdon barefoot more than three times in 24 hours, helping fund vital care and bereavement support for local people.

Setting himself the challenge of climbing Snowdon as many times as possible in 24 hours, Josh pushed himself to his limits to raise money for KEMP Hospice.

Despite the challenges, he kept going, determined to make every step count. At the top of the second summit, his feet were purple and he was soaked through, but he persevered alongside the people supporting him. Thankfully, everyone made it back safely.

The challenge was about more than reaching the summit. It was about testing his limits, creating memories and raising money for a cause close to his heart.

And his efforts paid off, with more than £5,200 raised for KEMP Hospice!

Anna Burley, Community and Events Fundraiser at KEMP Hospice, said:

“What Josh has achieved is utterly amazing. Climbing Snowdon barefoot as many times as possible in 24 hours, especially in such terrible conditions, takes an incredible amount of focus and resilience. To put himself through that challenge and raise more than £5,200 for KEMP at the same time is phenomenal. We’re so grateful to him and everyone who supported him. The money raised will make a real difference to local people who need our care and support.”

The money raised could cover more than a full week of bereavement counselling for individuals in the Wyre Forest who are struggling following the death of someone important to them.

KEMP’s experienced and trained counselling team helps people navigate the complex emotions surrounding grief, providing a safe space to talk, process their loss and find a way forward.

Thanks to Josh’s incredible fundraising effort, more local people will be able to access compassionate support when they need it most.

Reflecting on the challenge, Josh shared how the experience had reminded him to appreciate the people around him and what can happen when people come together for something that matters.

He thanked everyone who donated, shared his fundraiser, sent messages of encouragement or gave up their time to be part of the adventure.

For Josh, the achievement was about more than climbing a mountain. It was about making a difference, creating memories and doing something bigger than himself.

Everyone at KEMP Hospice would like to say a huge thank you to Josh and everyone who supported his fundraising. Raising more than £5,200 through such an extraordinary challenge is an amazing achievement, and the impact will be felt by people in our local community.

What a challenge, what an achievement and what a difference!
